James Martin Lahey, 86, of Walden passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 in Saratoga Springs.

Jimmy, as he was fondly known, was born to Edward William Lahey and Margaret Elizabeth Kampf on 11/11/1930 in Newburgh.

Jimmy served our country during the Korean Conflict in the United States Air Force and was stationed at Bryan Air Force base in Texas. When he finished serving with the Air Force in Texas, Jimmy returned to Orange County. He began a federal career with the United States Military Academy at West Point and Stewart Air Force Base, culminating as a Certified Water Treatment Operator at West Point ultimately retiring in 1983. He enjoyed interacting with the cadets while working at the West Point Boodlers snack shack and collecting military patches from all the over the world.

Jimmy's favorite form of recreation was roller skating, visiting rinks all over the NorthEast with his loving wife Betty and their many friends collecting rink stickers. Jimmy was outgoing and loved telling stories, reading, playing cards, making crafts (to brighten someone's day), and watching classic movies. Jimmy was proud to be a Life Member of the Walden American Legion Post 158.

Jimmy is pre-deceased by his wife Betty and his brother Thomas. He is survived by his sister Kathryn (Honey) Bernard; children Paul Lahey, Pattie Long and Lisa Lane and her husband Lance; grandchildren Shannan Decker, Chelsey Giammarino, Travis Lane; great grandchildren Justin Decker, Hailey Decker and Evelynn Hazelwood; nieces and nephews Eleanor (Ellie) Lahey, Thomas (Joey) Lahey, Kevin Bernard, Maureen Bernard, Margaret Miller
