Marbena "Jean" Fyke

March 12, 1934 ~ October 14, 2016 (age 82) 82 Years Old

Marbena "Jean" Fyke passed away on October 14, 2016, surrounded by her loving family. She was 82 years old. Born Marbena Jeanette Carter on March 12, 1934 in Saranac Lake, New York, Jean graduated from Saranac Lake High School and attended The Julliard School of Music until the death of her father prevented her from continuing. In 1956 she married William "Bill" Fyke and they raised two children together in Newburgh, New York, Patricia "Patti" Fyke Pisano (husband, Mark), and William "Bob" Fyke Jr. (wife, Vilma). She worked at Stewart Air Force Base and later with her husband in his accounting office. "Jeannie" was best known for her love of cats and her expertise about cat collectibles; she authored two books on that subject. She was one of the original "flea marketers" at the Maybrook Flea Market until it closed. She was a member of the Hudson Valley Depression Glass club and was an avid collector. Both she and Bill were long standing members of the Coldenham Fire Dept. She is survived by her two children and three grandchildren, William Fyke III, Rachel Fyke Gomez, and Christopher Pisano. She was predeceased by her loving husband Bill.
