Theresa R. Shearer of Walden, N.Y., a lifelong resident of the area, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 in Poughkeepsie. She was 90. 
The daughter of the late Charles and Matilda Schwartz Reynolds, she was born November 12, 1925 in Goshen, N.Y.
Theresa devoted her life to her family and friends. She was a beloved mother and grandmother, and was always there to lend a helping hand. She always had a smile on her face and a quick wit that was matched only by her husband’s humor.
In addition to her role as wife and mother, Theresa enjoyed working as a secretary for many years in a number of different settings. In her later years, she joined her husband of 69 years, Frank H. Shearer Jr., in operating Shearer’s Nursery in Walden, N.Y. Frank passed away on April 7, 2015.
Theresa is survived by her two daughters: Terry JoAnn Fuller of New Paltz, N.Y. and Susan Wren of Beaufort, SC. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Robert Fuller and his wife Erika, Jennifer Fuller, Kimberly Mesic and her husband Scott, Jim Knapp and his partner Sean, Andrew Knapp and his wife Jenn, Caitlin Knapp and her fiancé Lucas, as well as five great-grandchildren: Alexandra and Elizabeth Fuller and Alexis, Elizabeth and Natalie Elgarten. 
In addition to her husband Frank, Theresa was predeceased by her brother Arcady Reynolds.
The family would like to thank Dr. B. Hadid for his kindness, compassion and loving nature in caring for both Theresa and her husband Frank for so many years.  Many thanks, as well, to the nursing staff at Vassar Brother’s Hospital who went above and beyond in caring for Theresa in her final days. 
Visitation will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at the Millspaugh Funeral Home located at 22 Bank Street in Walden, N.Y. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Reverend James Van Houten will officiate. Burial will take place at a later date in the Wallkill Valley Cemetery.
