William Schlott Obituary

William E. Schlott ( Bill “Super Bill” Schlott) of Montgomery, NY, a retired Manager for Verizon, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on August 11, 2018, after a three and a half year battle with pancreatic cancer.

The son of the late  Harry Schlott and Anna (nee Walker) Schlott. He was a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by: his wife, Miriam (Nee Fernandez); his children: Jessica Younghans and her husband Brian; Megan Schlott and her boyfriend Rob Charles and James Schlott; His granddaughter- sweet angel, Ava Grace Younghans. He is also survived by siblings: Robert Schlott and his wife Lucy of Flushing, NY; Ann Marie Bonner of York, PA; Mary Ellen Hartwig and her husband John of Middle Village, NY; Harry Schlott and his wife Linda of Montpelier, VT; Kathie Ruggiero and her husband Pastor Michael of Sewell, NJ and Jeanie Montalvo and her husband Adrian of Dix Hills, NY as well as several beloved nieces, nephews and friends.

Bill courageously battled pancreatic cancer for three and a half years, giving everything he had in his fight. He made a deep impact on everyone whom he encountered, no matter how short the time. Bill just had that effect on people.

A “Jack of All Trades,” he brought enthusiasm and grit to every situation life had to offer. He was great with kids and had a knack for understanding what made people tick. Billy was constantly coming up with crazy ideas and projects and his enthusiasm was contagious. He loved fixing cars, biking, planning family trips, golfing, playing Poker and Texas Hold Em’ and even acting in plays on stage at the Conservatory. He was quite a ham and well known for his extreme facial expressions, impersonations, and being the life of the party. Billy had a deep affection for The Doors, night swimming (even in the middle of October) and watching thunderstorms. He was a sports fanatic and he avidly followed the Mets, Jets and his beloved Rangers. He was an avid pool player and history buff.

Bill was a hard worker, a dedicated and devoted father, husband, brother, uncle and friend. Even while his health was failing, he made sure that the hospital and ambulance workers received a tip and that everyone stayed laughing. He would quite literally give the shirt off his back to a stranger or anyone who needed it.

Bill’s big spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him; and he will be remembered for his amazingly strong, unmistakably goofy and unfailingly generous character.

One big dream Bill leaves behind is his skoolie, an old school bus he purchased and was in the process of converting into an RV with the intention of taking his family on an epic, memory filled road trip. He loved his skoolie project and worked on it every day. He even defied the tale of old dogs learning new tricks by creating an Instagram handle to share his progress and ask other skoolie users for tips and suggestions.

Bill would have wanted to finish his Skoolie. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to www.gofundme.com/billys-skoolie so his dream can live on through his family. Please continue to follow the progress via Instagram using the handle @billysskoolie

In lieu of flowers it is requested that donations be made to www.gofundme.com/billys-skoolie
