Dustin R. James of Middletown, NY, passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2017, in Poughkeepsie. He was 31. 

The son of Byron James and Etha Grogan, he was born August 25, 1985 in Poughkeepsie.

Dustin was a Police Officer with the Walden Police Department where he started his career ten years ago as a dispatcher and was recently promoted to Investigator.  He was also a part-time police officer with the Village of Montgomery.  Dustin started his career dispatching in the Town of Fishkill.  Throughout his career, he received numerous awards for his achievements.

He was the President of the Walden PBA and a member of the Warthogs.  Dustin also organized Walden's National Night Out for several years.

Nephew  Koltan; Step-sister  Gina Russo; Paternal Grandparents Phil & Lorraine James;
Mother-in-law Jeanne Marie Flanagan; Brothers-in-law Matthew, Michael and Mitchell Flanagan;
Several cousins; Many Brothers and Sisters in Blue
and loving "Fur-babies" Roscoe, Moose, Molly and Sassy

He was predeceased by
Maternal Grandmother Irene Barnes 
Father-In-Law Timothy Flanagan 

Visitation will be Thursday, April 20, 2017 from 3-8 pm at Millspaugh Funeral Home, 22 Bank St.Walden, NY.
A police service will be held at 6pm.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:30 pm, Friday April 21, 2017 at Holy Name of Mary Church, 89 Union St. Montgomery, NY 12549.
