Frieda M. Smith of Montgomery, NY, passed away on Dec. 6, 2015 in Newburgh. She was 89.

The daughter of the late Bernhard and Margaret Saile Miller, she was born August 30, 1926 in Island Park, NY.

Frieda was a school teacher for 40 years starting at Walden Elementary and then continuing in the Valley Central school district teaching remedial reading. For over 30 years she taught math and reading at Wallkill Correctional. She was a member of Walden Star Chapter #560 OES and the educational honor society,  Kappa Delta Pi. She was Past President and a member of the Board of Directors of the Brick Church Cemetery Association.She was a member of the Brick Reformed Church and volunteered with the Montgomery Food Pantry.

She was the widow of David Smith.
