Hazel M. Racino of Newburgh, passed away Friday, October 26, 2018, in Newburgh. She was 96.
The daughter of the late Samuel VanSteenburgh and Edith Baisley-VanSteenburgh, she was born June 16, 1922 in Kingston.
Hazel was the owner of Art's Bait Shop, in Wallkill along with her husband Arthur E. Rhodes. They ran the bait shop and raised 2 daughters, Linda and Edith. She loved all the people she met and never missed a chance to say that those were “the best times of her life”.
Hazel married Frank R. Racino April 13, 1989. Frank served our country in WWII and survived spending 5 years as a Prisoner of War.
Survivors include: Daughter, Edith Johnson & her husband Harry Brown of Wallkill; 3 Grandchildren, Michelle Rusnak & her husband Paul of Florida,
Ron Johnson Jr. & his wife Kelly of Rock Hill and Cheri Domingues & her husband Tony of Wallkill; 10 Great Grandchildren, Alyssa, Troy, Jayme, Steven, Sydney, Camryn, Tiffany, Aiden, Isabella & Mia and 4 Great Great Grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her Husband, Frank R. Racino; Daughter, Linda A. Purdy; and 2 Sisters, Dora Keeser & Alberta Johnston.
She will be missed beyond words. Forever in our hearts, thoughts and memories.
Graveside services for the family will take place at the New Hurley Cemetery, Wallkill, NY.
