Loretta Mary Nokland

Loretta Mary Nokland of Montgomery, NY passed away peacefully surrounded by her husband of 50 years, children, and grandchildren on Tuesday, October 30th, 2018 at the age of 71 years. She was born in Teaneck, NJ. Loretta graduated from Immaculate Heart Academy in Washington Township, NJ in 1965.  She moved her family to Montgomery in 1970. Loretta was the Shop Steward at Alpak Manufacturing in Montgomery.  She loved volunteering at Montgomery Elementary School with the PTA; she was a recipient of the Founders Award. Loretta was an excellent cook and thoroughly enjoyed family gatherings.

She was preceded in death by her brothers William, Edward, Joseph, and James.

Loretta leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband of 50 years, John Nokland of Montgomery; children, Laura Anne Roemmelt ( John) of Deltona FL, John Nokland ( Cynthia) of Montgomery, Joanne Vella (Chris) of Highland Mills, NY, Raymond Nokland ( Mariela) of Sanford FL and Stephen Nokland of Montgomery; grandchildren, Rachel, Megan, Isabelle, Abigail, Christopher, Sarah, Andrew, James, Conner and Caiden; brother, Robert Oppelt ( Randi) of Park Ridge, NJ.

Family and friends are invited to gather for viewing on Friday, Nov 2, from 1-3 and 6-8 pm at Overhiser Funeral Home, 78 Union St., Montgomery. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, Nov 3rd at 9 am at the Holy Name of Mary Catholic Church, 89 Union St., Montgomery. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Town of  Montgomery Food Pantry, PO Box 423, Montgomery, NY 12549.
