Mary D. Wright, 97, a lifelong resident of Wallkill, NY, passed away Thursday April 27, 2017, at home. The daughter of the late Daniel Deyo DuBois and Louise Ward DuBois, she was born August 19, 1919 at home. She was the widow of M. Wesley Wright, who died Dec. 24, 1994. 

Mary was a member of the Wallkill Reformed Church for over 65 years, a former Sunday School teacher, and an officer at various times of the Women's Guild of the Church. She was a charter member of the Historical Society of Shawangunk and Gardiner and a Trustee from 1998 until a few years ago. She was also a trustee of New Hurley Cemetery Association.

She was a graduate of the John G. Borden High School, Class of 1937, and a graduate of Central College, Pella, Iowa, Class of 1941. She was employed by the Wallkill Valley Federal Savings and Loan in Wallkill for 18 years, retiring in 1965 as treasurer. She was also treasurer of the Wallkill Public Library and trustee for 30 years, before retiring in 1995.

Her sister, Margery DuBois, died Dec. 31, 1997. Survivors include cousins, Louis DuBois of Highland, NY, Susan Breen of Shelby, NC, her step-son, Frank Wright of New Paltz, NY, and step-daughter Corinne Rolufs of Montgomery, NY. She was also predeceased by her cousin, Pauline Kuamme, who died August 10, 2006.

Visitation will be Sunday April 30, 2017 from 2-4 p.m. at Wallkill Funeral Home, 12 Bonaventura Ave., Wallkill, NY 12589. 

A funeral service will be 10 am Monday May 1, 2017 at the funeral home.
Pastor Howard Dalton will officiate.

Burial will be in New Hurley Cemetery in Wallkill, NY.
