Paul J Vinett of New Paltz, NY, a longtime resident of the area passed away at Villa Marie Claire Hospice in Saddle River, NJ with his loving family by his side. He turned 85 on Flag Day.
The son of the late Arthur and Josephine Vinett, he was born June 14, 1933 in Troy, NY. He was a graduate and valedictorian of Lasalle High School in Troy and graduated from RPI. Paul married the former Gertrude Petronis on July 2, 1955. He was a professional electrical engineer for Central Hudson and retired after 40 years.
Paul was an avid fan of all sports. Early in life, he played baseball and football at Lasalle, and was a Little League coach for many years in Newburgh and Walden. He enjoyed attending all of his grandchildren’s sporting events, golfing, skiing, and rooting for the Yankees and Rangers until the very end.
He was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Lion’s Club, a communicant of St. Charles, and sang with numerous local choral groups.
Survivors include his wife Gertrude Vinett, their eight children: Rosanne Costabile (Thomas), Paul Vinett (Steven), Kathleen Millspaugh (Mark), Suzanne Feasel, Daniel Vinett, Eileen Jarrett (Adam), Stephen Vinett (Annie), and Lori Mossuto (Mark), twenty-four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Paul is also survived by two sisters, MaryJo Kahler of Maryland and Vivian Crough (Jerry) of Ballston Spa NY and brothers-in-law Eugene, Thomas, Stephen and Joseph Petronis.
Visitation will be from 2 PM -5 PM, Sunday, June 17th, 2018 at Millspaugh Funeral Home, 22 Bank St., Walden, NY 12586.
Visitation will also be on Monday June 18th at 11 am at St. Charles Borromeo, 2212 Route 44/55, Gardiner, NY 12525.
A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 12 Noon.
Burial will be in St Charles Cemetery in Gardiner, NY.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Villa Marie Claire, 12 West Saddle River Road, Saddle River, NJ 07458.
