Ralph Wilson Aumick of Wallkill, NY passed away peacefully on May 10, 2017.

The son of the late Ralph Everett and Burnice Dubois Aumick, Ralph was born July 13, 1944 in Kingston, NY. He was predeceased by his wife, Velma V. VanDeMark; parents; brother, Robert; sister, Janice; and beloved niece, Carla.

Survivors include his dear friend Rita Levine, brother Stephen and his wife Denise, daughter Rachel and her husband Aaron Mongeau, and granddaughter Caroline V. Mongeau.

Ralph was a highly respected horticulturist and fourth generation farmer. He earned an associate’s degree in dairy science from SUNY Delhi in 1964 and a master’s degree in horticulture from the Ohio State University in 1972. After returning home from Ohio, he owned and operated R&V Nursery and was a facilities manager at Orange County Community College (OCCC) in Middletown, NY. After leaving OCCC, he transitioned back to the work he loved most, horticulture and landscaping, for the remainder of his working life.

Ralph suffered from alpha 1 antitrypsin deficiency during the later portion of his life, yet continued to maintain his house on the Aumick family farm located on Aumick Road at the foot of the Shawangunk Mountains. Ralph found great joy spending time with his dear friend Rita and granddaughter Caroline.

Burial services will be at the convenience of the family at the Shawangunk Reformed Church, 1166 Hoagerburgh Rd, Wallkill, NY.
