Adele C. Lesandro formerly of Middle Village, NY passed away on Monday, May 13, 2024, in Walden at the age of 87.
Adele was the daughter of the late John and Flora Danise, born on May 26, 1936 in East Harlem, NY.
She was the widow of Albert J. Lesandro, who she was happily married to for 57 years before his passing.
Adele is survived by her four daughters, Danise Dorto & (Vernon); Adele Davis & (Derek); June Golonka & (Roy); and Debbie Caixeiro & (Carl). Adele leaves behind 9 grandchildren: Ian (Katlyn), Ava, Emily Messina and her husband Drew; Lucas (Andrea); Zachary; Paul; Matthew (Haley); Danny (Georgia); Samantha (Justin); and her great grandson Jackson Messina. Adele is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Along with her parents and husband Albert, she was predeceased by her loving brothers and sisters.
Mom married her childhood sweetheart Al, who literally was her next-door neighbor. Together they enjoyed many wonderful happy years in East Harlem on 119th Street. Adele and Al would eventually move to Queens to raise their four daughters where they would reside for the next 60+ years. Adele lived her life to the fullest as her children were her greatest joy in life. She was usually surrounded by family for Sunday “gravy” and enjoyed hosting many holidays. As she watched her children marry and have children of their own, she took on the role of grandma, lovingly known as “nanny” where she babysat and visited all her grandchildren. If you think her kids were her pride and joy, well, her grandkids were loved so, so much more! If you needed a babysitter or a weekend drop off, Nanny and Poppy would gladly come to the rescue. Mom loved being a caretaker, cooking, and tending to her family. She was a great cook, sang beautifully, and loved playing the piano, even playing by ear! Mom lived a beautiful long life and will be remembered for her beauty, candor, New York accent, and love of her children and grandchildren. Rest easy momma, we love you.
Visitation will be Sunday, May 19, 2024, 2-4pm & 6-8pm at Millspaugh Funeral Home, 22 Bank St., Walden, NY 12586.
A funeral service will be Monday, May 20, 2024, at 10am at the funeral home.
