Alan Allard Obituary

Alan M. Allard of Wallkill, NY, passed away Thursday, January 27, 2022. He was 54 years old. Born to Janet Goldstein and Louis Allard on October 26, 1967, Alan grew up locally in Newburgh, NY. He always shared fond memories of his childhood, including the fun he had on Meadow Street, learning to play the drums, and the fun of his first job at the Newburgh Mall. He graduated from Washingtonville High School in 1985, and pursued his college education in the Adirondacks, earning his Bachelor’s degree from Plattsburgh State University in 1989. He returned to the Hudson Valley, began working at Pepsi, and bought his first and forever home in Wallkill, NY where he raised his two daughters and loved watching them grow. He went on to change career paths to a pharmaceutical representative, a position he served with pride for over 20 years until his death.

Despite being a self-proclaimed homebody, Alan was an active member of the Wallkill community in his 30+ year residence in the hamlet. His daughters and their peers will remember him for coaching youth soccer over the years, chaperoning their band and orchestra trips, endless summer days spent at the Allard pool, and hosting base for the occasional neighborhood manhunt game. Over the years, Alan continued his passion for playing the drums with the Rough Riders (formerly Civil War Troopers). He also became more involved in other organizations, including some time spent with the Lion’s Club, and an active role in the JDRF Community. He was a Keynote Charity Speaker for the 2015 Hudson Valley JDRF Gala alongside his daughter, and helped coordinate a support group for adolescents with the disease. In his more recent years, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and an occasional drink at Parkview. May we remember him as a proud Dad and a loving Son, and someone who always had a joke to share (no matter how crude) and a song to sing.

Alan is survived by his daughters, Madyson (Nick) and Mollie Allard; parents; Janet and Joel Goldstein, of New Windsor, and Lou and Nancy Allard, of Mississippi; girlfriend Kelly Wohlgemuth and her daughters Kylie and Kelsey; best friends Joe Hillman, Dennis Lebron, and Nick Speranza; friend and former wife Kim Allard; brother Louis Allard; and his cat Joslin. He was preceded by his drum teacher and mentor, Harold Green.
