Albert C. Wright Sr passed away of natural causes, just one week shy of 99 years old. Although he was a lifelong resident of Walden, New York where he and his wife, Carolyn, owned a country home, he lived his later years near his loving son, Michael and Michael’s wife, Terry, in Sebastian, Florida. As a young man, Albert proudly served in the US Navy during World War II. For eighty years, he lived and loved and relished life with the girl he fell in love with the moment he saw her, Carolyn, who has since predeceased him.
Particularly happy when building a patio or building a deck around the family "in-the ground" swimming pool, or building his barn, Albert delighted in being outside hunting ducks and pheasants with his German Shorthair Pointer, Heidi. No stranger to manual labor, he helped construct the New York City aqueduct system. Later working at the Wallkill Correctional Facility, he was President of the Union, headed the Negotiating Team, and was chosen to be a Union delegate to represent the Union in Washington DC. Additionally, he was an avid baseball and football enthusiast.
A devoted member of the Most Precious Blood Parrish in Walden, he is predeceased by his parents, AL and Ruth Wright, his sister Beverly Bunting, and his grandson Kyle Winter. Survivors include his sister Ruth Kirk; son Albert (Bud) Wright Jr and wife Kathleen; son Austin; son Michael and wife Terry; daughter Donna Sullivan; daughter Becky Pace and husband Bucky; as well as grandchildren Emily and Ben Pace; Kim Keller and husband Matt; Elliot and Abigail Wright; Tyler Wright and wife Meagan; and many great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, as well as nieces, nephews.
Finally, Dad loved to read and frequented the small-town Josephine Louise Library, in Walden, NY. As a result, a donation in his name, "Albert C Wright Sr" to the Josephine Louise Library in Walden NY would be a kind gesture.
Visitation will take place Monday April 24th, 2023 from 12:00pm- 1:00pm at Millspaugh Funeral Home, 22 Bank St. Walden NY 12586.
A service will follow at 1:00pm at the funeral home.
