Aldina “Dina” Hart, formerly of Montgomery, NY, passed away on February 16, 2026 in Connecticut after the “long goodbye” of dementia. Born September 21, 1930 in Brooklyn, NY, she was a graduate of James Madison High School in Brooklyn and attended New York University and Brooklyn College.
She had a variety of careers over her lifetime, starting at Lever Brothers on Park Ave in New York where one of her duties was leading tours of the iconic New York landmark. She then worked as a dietician in the dining hall at SUNY Farmingdale where she met her husband, John. She worked for Walden Printing, then as a dental assistant for Drs. Jules Abbott and Edward Griffin DDS in Walden and finally for the Times Herald Record in classified ads. However her most important vocation was that of caregiver. She cared for her mother-in-law, her parents and then her husband through his battle with Parkinson’s disease. She helped with her grandchildren and was a friend and help to her neighbors after moving to Ossining, NY. She was an active volunteer at Holy Name of Mary Parish in Montgomery, NY and at St. Ann Parish in Ossining, NY.
She is survived by daughters Theresa Hart Geraghty and husband Paul of Moodus, CT, Jane Hart Tucker and husband Harold of Sleepy Hollow, NY, son Joseph Hart and wife Mariane of Hebron, CT; grandchildren Matthias Geraghty and wife Peter Gay, Peter Geraghty, Emma Tucker, Jacqueline Hart and David Hart, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, John F. Hart Sr., son John F. Hart Jr. and grandson Andrew Tucker.
Visitation will be Saturday, April 18, from 11AM to 1PM at Overhiser Funeral Home, 78 Union St., Montgomery, NY. Funeral services will follow at the funeral home, followed by private burial.
