Alvin T. Kissinger of Walden, NY passed away quietly on Monday, November 17, 2025. He was 84.
The eldest son of seven, he was born on December 31, 1940, in Pottsville, PA. Al is predeceased by his parents, Alvin and Emma Kissinger; his sisters Jeanette Kissinger and Martha Arnott; brothers Harold (Jimmy) Kissinger and Charles (Butch) Kissinger.
Al is survived by his two sons: William Kissinger (and spouse Tina Logan), Steven Kissinger; grandsons Gavin Kissinger (and spouse Daniel Kissinger), Preston Kissinger (and spouse Alley Kissinger); sisters Ruth Ann Putalavage and Verna Dewald; nieces and nephews.
Alvin was a member of the Salvation Army band. He graduated from Pottsville High School where he was a member of both the football and track & field teams, and thought chess was the greatest.
He was also a member of the Walden Fire Department for 50 years. Al coached little league for a number of years. He was an avid hiker, line dancer, enjoyed attending church functions with friends, stock car races and traveling to Nascar events.
He served in the United States Army Reserve as an army tractor operator, specialist fourth class. Al began his career in 1965 with the Walden Telephone Company as a switchman’s helper. He then went on to hold various positions throughout the next 30 years including engineering and management, eventually retiring in 1998 from Frontier Communications, Monroe, NY.
The family invites you to join them in celebrating Al on Saturday, January 17, 2026, from 11am-1pm at Millspaugh Funeral Home, 22 Bank Street, Walden, NY 12586.
