Awilda N. Proano

Awilda N. Proano of Milton, NY, passed away peacefully Saturday, August 16, 2025 in Newburgh, NY. She was 82.

The daughter of the late Herminio Serrano and Aurea Andujar Serrano, she was born April 29, 1943 in Santurce, Puerto Rico.

Awilda or Abby as her family and close friends knew her, was a Childcare Assistant at the YWCA in New Windsor, NY for many years before retiring.

She is survived by her son Jorge Proano and his wife Yanixza, daughter Niza Valentin and her husband Clement, grandchildren Brianna Valentin, Jenessa Valentin, and Myles Proano, brother David Serrano, sister Herminia Rodriguez and many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Along with her parents she was predeceased by sister Naida Serrano.

Services will take place privately at the convenience of the family..
