Brian Kiernan Obituary

Brian P. Kiernan of Montgomery, NY, passed away at home on Friday, March 25, 2022 at the age of 53.
Brian is the son of Patricia Conroy and the late Robert Kiernan, born on February 26, 1969 in Newburgh, NY.
Brian was well known in the Montgomery community and was larger than life. He had the ability to infuriate you in one breath and endear you to him in the next. Those who knew him will all tell you the same thing: he was someone that could play a sport once and become a pro. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t achieve athletically. But his passion was golf. He excelled at golf and won many tournaments. He even played with the future President  Trump and caddied for former President Clinton. And from the looks of the pictures, he charmed them with his wit and humor. Brian worked at many golf courses including in New York, Florida and Nantucket. Working all over, he made many lifelong friends while doing something he loved. He eventually settled back in Montgomery and worked at Copperfields Pub. He had his harem and his friends that loved him dearly and with his family, will miss him dearly.

His greatest source of pride was his son and he enjoyed going to different sporting events, especially Yankee games, with his Jonathan. After Jonathan joined the Marine Corps, Brian enjoyed visiting him wherever Jonathan might be stationed. They shared a very special bond as father and son. He later became a very special “uncle Bri Bri” to his niece Madelyn. He never came to visit her without a stuffed animal or three hiding in his pockets for her to find. And often, a hundred dollar bill. She adored him and his presence in her life is already missed.
Survivors include his son, Staff Sergeant Jonathan M. Kiernan, USMC of California; mother, Patricia Richards Conroy of Lagrangeville, NY; his brother, Patrick Kiernan of Montgomery, NY; sister, Colleen Gleason and husband Aaron of Lagrangeville, NY; niece, Madelyn E. Gleason; Uncle, Marty Kiernan (Thelma). He is also survived by special “step sons” Mackenzie and Zachary Walsh, as well as many cousins. He was predeceased by his step father, Peter Conroy; paternal grandparents, John and Christine Kiernan and maternal grandparents, John and Madelyn Richards.

Memorial visitation will be Thursday, March 31, 2022, from 1-3pm & 6-8pm at Millspaugh Funeral Home, 22 Bank St., Walden, NY 12586.

A funeral service will follow at 8:30pm at the funeral home.

A graveside service will take place Friday, April 1, 2022, at 11am at St. Mary's Cemetery, Montgomery, NY.

In lieu of flowers, you can make a donation to Wounded Warriors Project. Brian loved his country and had a great respect for the military.
