I was saddened to hear the news from his niece, Sinead. I had the pleasure of meeting "many Mastersons" at Gemma's house a few summers ago. I know Uncle Brian was well-loved and lived his life to the fullest. Sympathy and love to the family.

I am a stranger to your family but want to offer my condolences and prayers to the family. I read of Mr. Masterson's service on a Facebook posting and wanted to know more about him. He sounds like a man so very dedicated to his service, a wonderful family man and friend to so many . God Bless his family and friends.

I never had the honour of meeting you sir but wanted to say how proud my family and I are of you and all your colleagues who worked so tirelessly during the dark days of 9/11 and before and after. Having visited the Twin Towers and watched with horror the events of that day, my thoughts and prayers were with you and your colleagues who showed the world what true brotherhood is. I send love and best wishes to your family and friends who, I am sure, will treasure their memories of you and carry you in their hearts. If I may, I'd like to share the words of comfort from the Bishop who conducted my wedding and the funerals of my parents - "One day, when you least expect it, the sharp pain of loss becomes the ache of remembrance". Rest easy sir.

Mary and the Masterson Family I am so sorry. I grew up with Brian on 43 Road in Flushing. He was my first best friend. I spend many great times with him and his family. I remember tea and bean sandwiches for dinner sometimes and arguments with Kevin a lot. Brian and I shared paper routes together (Brian had two). He always had a strong work ethic even at the age of 12. He was my inspiration in so many ways. I always felt that he had this amazing insight into the world and knew of his strong political beliefs. Brian would always stand with the underdog and protect those kids that were being picked on. I loved his stories of Ireland and his really cool Brogue. He made me proud to be Irish and I developed a longing to see where he was born. Brian taught me how to kick a soccer ball, Box and how to fling papers to land squarely on a front stoop. He was truly a great kid. I miss those days even more today but know that there is a special place in heaven for Brian. Today I pray for you and your family for the world has lost a truly remarkable soul. Brian I love you my friend.....
