Carissa A. Sharp of Montgomery, NY, passed away Thursday, Nov 25, 2021 in Middletown NY. She came into this world on November, 17 and was headstrong and knew just what she wanted from day one. She was brought home from the hospital on Thanksgiving and 43 years later, on Thanksgiving, she was called back home.
She was the proud daughter of Diane (Kiernan) Sharp and the late Dewitt “Buddy” Sharp. Her love and compassion for others was far reaching and she knew how to make everyone feel like family. This loss will be felt immensely by all that loved her because she loved so deeply. She was an avid hiker, a near-professional (ammateur) cook, and loved to share her favorite places to reconnect with nature. Those that knew her well knew that a day at the beach and good music could cure almost anything. She is probably up there listening to a live band and tanning as we speak. She not only loved her friends and family with fierce loyalty, but her dog Sir Montgomery McGee and cat Ty, were fortunate to have had her.
Carissa was a proud employee at Nuvance Health in their research department in Poughkeepsie. Her work provided her the opportunity to volunteer, participate in outreach events and really connect with the community around her. These events helped spur her love of helping others and she could often be found volunteering at a local food kitchen.
She is survived by her mother Diane (Kiernan) Sharp and Edward Barnosky Sr. who became like a father to Carissa in her adult life; her brother, Dewitt Sharp; niece, Vivienne Sharp and countless Aunts, Uncles and Cousins who were all near and dear to her heart.
Her love will outshine us all and to quote her and her Dad (Buddy’s) favorite song, Stairway to Heaven
“And as we wind on down the road
Our shadows taller than our soul
There walks a lady we all know
Who shines white light and wants to show
How everything still turns to gold”
