Carolyn Smith

Carolyn Smith of Gardiner, NY, died Thursday October 3, 2024 in Gardiner. She was 86.

The daughter of the late Berger and Karin Hoel Hansen, she was born September 30, 1938 in Brooklyn, NY.

Carolyn was a retired customer service representative for Blue Cross Blue Shield, in Middletown, NY and was a volunteer at Chapel Field Elementary School in Pine Bush, NY.

She is survived by her daughter Laura Faye Walls and her husband Glenn, son Richard Walls and his wife Monica, daughter Caren Ruth Avery and her husband James, daughter Rebecca Saxe, 18 Grandchildren, 6 Great Grandchildren, sister Karin Bonagura, brother Berger Hansen, brother Bruce Hansen, stepsons David Smith, Steven Smith, Peter Smith and Tim Smith, and nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

Along with her parents she was predeceased by her son Tommy Smith, sister Jensine Hansen, brother Barney Hansen, husband Alfred Smith, and husband Edward Jenkins.

Cremation will take place privately.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 2, 2024, at 12pm at Goodwill Church, 2135 State Route 208, Montgomery, NY 12549.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Chapel Field Christian School, 211 Fleury Road, Pine Bush, NY 12566.
