Cindy E. (Berg) Sauter

Cindy E. Berg Sauter, 69, of Wallkill, NY, died on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at Garnet Health Medical Center in Middletown, NY. 

She was born on July 17, 1952, in the Bronx, NY, to Eskil and Dorothy Berg. 

After graduating from Roy C. Ketcham High School in 1970, she went on to pursue her Bachelors of Arts at Cedar Crest College in PA, studied abroad at the University of Valencia and Madrid in Spain, and received her Masters of Arts at New York University. 

Cindy had a compelling passion for teaching and impacting the lives of others, especially her students. She pursued a remarkable career as a Spanish Teacher at Middletown High School for 30 years and proudly retired in 2009. 

In addition to her career, Cindy enjoyed spending time with the love of her life and husband of 39 years, Joseph Sauter. They both shared a passion of wanderlust. Cindy loved spending time with Joe at their second home in the Outer Banks, North Carolina. If Cindy was not in the classroom, you could find her at the beach with her toes in the sand and a glass of wine in her hand. This was truly her place of fulfillment. 

Cindy was predeceased by her father, Eskil Berg, mother, Dorothy Berg, and sister Lorraine DuBois.

Cindy is survived by her husband, Joseph Sauter, stepson Jeff Sauter and his significant other Jennifer Adamcek, stepdaughter Mrs. Michelle Penik and her husband William Penik, niece Debbie DuBois Mueller and nephew Doug DuBois and his wife Jane DuBois. 

She is also survived by 3 grandchildren, 1 great niece and 3 great nephews, as well as several cousins. 

No funeral or memorial service is immediately planned. The family will notify loved ones in the future when a service is scheduled.
