Cookie (Doea) Boone

Cookie (Doea) Boone, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, born to earth April 8, 1949, born to heaven Tuesday June 8, 2021, at her home in Bloomingburg, NY surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Clay Boone; children Shannon Morris and Brad Kibler; and a large extended family including many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Cookie was born in Hammond, IN and lived out her youth in Calumet City, IL, raised by loving parents with her two sisters. After graduating high school, she attended St. Louis Christian College and later graduated from Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C. where she received an education in American Sign Language. From there she became an Interpreter for the Deaf, working 30 years for Orange Ulster BOCES, interpreting for children of all ages before proudly retiring, December 2020.

Known throughout the community of Orange County her accomplishments were many, most notably as a remarkable piano teacher who taught for more than 50 years. During this time, she touched the lives of hundreds of students. Cookie was also known as a renowned and expert piano player at large, lending her talents to many local churches for their music ministries. In addition, she enjoyed volunteering at Campbell Hall Rehabilitation Center where she would conduct Sunday afternoon services alongside her husband, Clay, for many years. She was a dedicated member of the Orange County Right to Life organization, as well as having volunteered for many years with the Salvation Army. A devoted Christian, Cookie gave of herself freely and selflessly to family, friends and strangers alike. Anyone who knew her was touched by her gentleness and kind nature.

Services will be at 11:00am on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at Calvary Baptist Church, 5 Wisner Rd., Warwick, NY 10990.
