Daniel Baisley Obituary

Daniel R. Baisley Sr., 79, residing in Walden, New York, passed away peacefully at home on May 14, 2026. He was born on January 30, 1947, in Suffern, New York, and spent much of his childhood in Rockland County. He attended Haverstraw High School and Hudson Valley Community College.

On January 28, 1965, Dan enlisted in the United States Air Force and served four years. During the Vietnam War, he served in Military Intelligence as a photo interpreter, analyzing aerial reconnaissance photos. Eventually, Dan went to work for the New York State Office for People with Developmental Disabilities in the Hudson Valley Region. He dedicated over 30 years as a developmental aide and supervisor ; above all, he was known as an excellent employee and a true role model.

Dan was a devoted family man who took his children everywhere—fishing, hunting, hiking, and on family vacations. His home was always a welcoming place for relatives and friends.

Dan is survived by his wife, Karen ; his children, Daniel Jr., Steven, and Kristen ; his niece, Tina, who was like a daughter to him ; and his granddaughters, Leonora and Alexandria. He is also survived by his siblings, Donald, Peter, Darlene, Anna Marie, and Vernard ; his uncle Gerald ; his aunt Marianne ; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Patrick, and his nephew, James.

Memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2026, 2pm-4pm at the Millspaugh Funeral Home, 22 Bank St., Walden, N.Y. 12586. A service will follow at 4pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a local food bank in his name.
