Dawn Lyn Mathieu of Wallkill, NY, a longtime resident of the area passed away Monday, May 15, 2023, at home. She was 49.
The daughter of Stephen K and Annette T Ryther, she was born September 6, 1973 in Albany.
She was a member of Cronomer Valley Fire Department and the Lady’s Auxiliary at Dan Leghorn Fire Department in her youth. In her youth, she participated in many sports, but Softball was her favorite. More recently, she was a Help Desk Coordinator for the Technology Department for the Newburgh Enlarged City School District, the Secretary for the CSEA Union 7910, and a member of the Whispering Winds Equestrian Facility.
Survivors include her husband Claude at home, son Kyle A. Lopez, daughter Rebecca L. Lopez, parents Stephen and Annette Ryther of Newburgh, brother Stephen Glenn and his wife Tracie, and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Visitation will be 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM on Friday, May 19, 2023 at Millspaugh Funeral Home, 22 Bank St. Walden, NY.
Funeral services will follow the visitation at 8 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the MHA of Orange County/the Vet2Vet of Orange County or to the Whispering Winds Cancer Benefit show.
