Obituary

Dwight “BUTCH” Wellington James Scott, of Montgomery and Middletown N.Y., lifelong resident of the area, passed away peacefully at age of 75 at Garnett Health Center Middletown, N.Y. on April 22, 2022.

Dwight, A loving Husband, Father and Grandfather, passed away surrounded by his family. He was well loved and loved his family and nobody was left unsure of that. Dwight was born on January 7, 1947 to James Wellington Scott and Joanne J. Meehan Scott Armour in Newburgh, N.Y. Dwight was a graduate of Valley Central High School Class of 1965. Dwight was Owner/Operator of D.W. Scott Water Systems of Middletown, N.Y., former owner of Dwight Scott Plumbing and Heating.

Dwight is survived by his wife Trudy D. Scott of 46 years, sister Donna Fossum, sons Dwight Wellington James Scott II of Middletown, N.Y., Daniel Wellington Thomas Scott and his wife Keirstin Johnson Scott of Newburgh, N.Y. Granddaughters Jaidyn Leann Scott, Ashlee Jordyn Scott, Danielle Erin Scott and Addison Evelyn Scott of Newburgh, N.Y. Dwight is also survived by stepmother Mary Elizabeth Scott of Newburgh, N.Y., Aunt Catherine Horton of New Windsor, N.Y., cousins Carol Lee Sager and her husband Robert of Ft. Myers, Florida., William Horton and his wife Janine Horton of Newburgh, N.Y., Stephen Horton and his wife Lisa Horton of Warrensburg, N.Y.

Dwight will always be remembered for helping his customers regardless of any issues. Dwight was an avid outdoorsman and fond of his business and the relationships he had with his friends in the Groundwater Industry.

Friends may call at Overhiser Funeral Home, 78 Union St. Montgomery, N.Y. on Wednesday April 27, 2022 from 4-8:00PM.
