Elayne C. Ryan of Walden, NY passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 28, 2025. She was 88 years old. Elayne was born July 20, 1936 in Brooklyn to the late Jack and Eileen Frayne.
Elayne moved to Walden after marrying her husband James (Jimmy) in 1956. Elayne and Jimmy moved from Walden in 1972 to Essex Jct. VT and then Liverpool NY with their family before returning to Walden in 1978 to open Mid-Hudson Office Supplies.
Elayne is predeceased by her husband Jimmy and her brother John Frayne. She is survived by her children Maureen of Walden, Jay and Lori of Walden, John of Key West FL and Chris of Walden, grandchildren Justin, Tyler, Keegan, Keela and Aodhan and great-grandson Grady. She will be missed by her family.
Elayne was a member of the Most Precious Blood Parish since 1956 and active in the Most Precious Blood Rosary Altar Society. She was also a member of Walden Seniors. To anyone who knew Elayne, she was especially known for her daily walking to wherever she needed to go in Walden. Up until recently, Elayne could be seen walking the mile from her home to church daily. She loved to walk and enjoyed the cold New York winters.
Visitation will be at Millspaugh Funeral Home, 22 Bank Street, Walden, on Sunday, February 2, 2025 from 1:00-3:00pm and 6:00-8:00pm.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Most Precious Blood Church, 42 Walnut Street, Walden on Monday, February 3, 2025 at 10:30 am.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be sent to the Most Precious Blood Rosary Altar Society, 42 Walnut Street, Walden, NY 12586.
Burial will follow at the Wallkill Valley Cemetery in Walden.
