Elizabeth Walz Obituary

Elizabeth "Beth" Jane Walz (née Wentink), 62, of Walden, New York, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Born on October 29, 1963, in Newburgh, New York, Beth leaves behind a family who adored her and countless friends whose lives were made brighter by knowing her.

Beth was the beloved wife of Kevin Walz for 38 years; loving mother of Melyssa Simpson (Paul Simpson) and Lyndzee Congelosi (Anthony Congelosi); and a proud "Gam" to her cherished grandchildren, Jase, Callie, and Cameron. Being their Gam was one of the greatest joys of her life, and she treasured every moment spent with them.

She is survived by her father, John Wentink; her father-in-law, Peter Walz (Cathy); her brothers, John Wentink (Marialana) and Gary Smith (Dina); her brothers-in-law, Erich Walz (Joanne) and Brian Walz (JoAnne); and many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends. She also leaves behind her cherished best friend, Kristen Sears, affectionately known by Beth as her "Beastie."

She was predeceased by her mother, Jane Richards-Martinez; her stepmother, Laurel Wentink; her mother-in-law, Marge Walz; and her beloved niece, Taylor Jane Wentink.

Beth spent much of her career in the food service and hospitality industry, where she became known not just for her hard work, but for the genuine warmth she shared with everyone she met. Whether managing McDonald's in her younger years, bartending or serving ice cream at The Dugout, Beth had an incredible ability to make every person feel welcome. Customers became regulars, and regulars became friends. She never met a stranger for long. Beth was especially proud to celebrate five years of sobriety on July 10, 2026. Her recovery was one of the greatest achievements of her life, and she found strength, friendship, and a renewed sense of purpose through her recovery community.

Beth had a way of making everyone feel at home. Whether she was making you laugh, spending the day at the beach with family, or simply welcoming you through her door, she made people feel like they belonged. The memories she created and the love she shared will be cherished always by her family, friends, and everyone who knew her.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Beth's life during visitation on Saturday, August 8, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Millspaugh Funeral Home, 22 Bank St., Walden, NY 12586.

Cremation will take place privately.
