Ellen “Emmy” Warren was a beloved grandmother, mother, and wife during her incredible 82 years of life. She passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 8, 2023, with her family lovingly by her side. Ellen was born on May 24, 1941, to the late Stanley Freer and Marie Hanke Freer in Newburgh, NY and was the oldest of four children.
Ellen graduated from Wallkill Senior High School where she was passionate about cheerleading, skating, and dancing. It was there that she met the love of her life David Warren. After graduating high school, Ellen worked at the Wallkill Central School District for over 40 years where she proudly retired from and made many lifelong friends.
Ellen is predeceased by her husband David Warren. She is survived by her son Keith Warren and daughter Lorelei Horn; son-in-law John Horn; grandchildren Jonathon, Kimberlee and Brandon Horn, and David Hubbard; and great-granddaughter Kayla Horn. Ellen also leaves behind her sister Marie Freer, and brothers Stanley and Richard Freer along with many other extended family members.
Ellen’s greatest joys in life were her family whom she loved spending time with. She was an avid Elvis fan and had a deep love for animals. She enjoyed gardening, crafting, painting, and sewing. Everyone who knew Ellen knew that she was an extremely generous, loving and kind person.
A graveside service to celebrate her life will be held on Friday, October 13, 2023, at 11 AM in Bruynswick Rural Cemetery, in Wallkill, NY.
