Frances Knight Obituary

Frances M. Knight, born in Waterbury, CT, on June 6, 1927, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2025, at the age of 97.

Frances was the beloved daughter of Francis Wild and Evelina Geroux Wild. She graduated from Walden High School and later met Janson Knight, with whom she shared a loving marriage for 69 years.

A gifted artist, Frances honed her skills under the mentorship of John Gould at the Bethlehem Art Gallery. For 25 years, she ran a successful ceramic shop, where she shared her talents and passion for art with generations of students and customers. Her creativity extended beyond ceramics; she was also a talented seamstress known for making beautiful clothes, quilts, costumes, and repairs. Friends and family often marveled at her ability to knit the coziest slippers, which she proudly claimed were the best on earth.

Frances had a green thumb and lovingly tended to multiple gardens filled with vibrant flowers and nourishing vegetables. She was an excellent cook, dedicating countless hours to canning the fruits of her labor from her garden, sharing her delicious creations with loved ones.

An adventurous spirit, Frances loved to travel, exploring multiple countries and destinations throughout her life. Her stories of adventure and discovery brought joy to those around her, inspiring many to embrace the world with the same curiosity and enthusiasm.

Frances is survived by her daughter, Susan McDermott and her husband Dave; her son, Steve Knight and his wife Denise; daughter-in-law Georgianna Knight; and her grandchildren, Samantha Dickson (Raymond), Mary Mailler, Frank Mailler (Lindsey), Sudden McDermott, Stephen Knight, Daniel Knight, Chris Knight, and her sister Joan Wild. She is also survived by many great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her son John Knight, her husband Janson Knight, and her siblings Joseph Wild (Helen), Raymond Wild (Florence), Margaret Leroy, Mary Roe (George "King"), Tom Wild, John Wild (Kathy), and Frank Wild.

The family extends a special thank you to Stephen Knight, Debbie Weeden, Colleen Troncone, and the entire family for the exceptional care given to Frances.
