Garry Cook of Montgomery, NY, a longtime resident of the area passed away Friday January 26, 2024 at home. He was 93.
The son of the late Martin G. Cook and Henrietta Cook, he was born September 21, 1930 in Tuxedo.
Garry was a retired transport manager for Holmes, Newburgh, NY and was President of the Mid Hudson Traffic Club. He served in the United States Army from 1955-1956. Garry was a member of the Walden Reformed Church, where he served as an Elder and Deacon. He loved working in his gardens and watching auto racing.
Survivors include his wife Jean C. Cook at home, daughter Victoria Houck of Marlboro, son Martin Cook of Ellenville, daughter Glenda Cook-Glackin & James of Montgomery, daughter Gail Cook & John McLaughlin of Marlboro; 4 Grandchildren- Alexia Houck, Garry Cook, Jack McLaughlin, William McLaughlin; 1 Great Grandchild- Holly Hastings.
He was predeceased by his brother Charles Cook.
Visitation will be Saturday, February 3, 2024, 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM at Overhiser Funeral Home, 78 Union St., Montgomery, NY.
A funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM at the funeral home. Pastor Howie Dalton will officiate.
Cremation will take place privately.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions cane be made to Hospice of Orange and Sullivan.
Burial will be in Bruynswick Rural Cemetery
