Geraldine Fay (Shurter) DeGroodt

Geraldine Fay DeGroodt of Wallkill, NY, a longtime resident of the area, passed away Saturday, May 21, 2022, at home.  She was 94.

The daughter of the late George Shurter and Gladys Taylor Shurter, she was born February 2, 1928 in Walden.

She was the widow of Joseph DeGroodt.

Survivors include her daughter Diane Davis of Walden, NY, and grandchildren Michelle Davis & Erelene Hauptfleisch of Livingston Manor, NY, and Chris Davis & Gregg Smith of New Windsor, NY, her sister-in-law Jean Shurter, as well as nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her son Edward DeGroodt and his wife Nellie,and three brothers: Edward and his wife Gloria, George and his wife Joan, & Jack Shurter.

Services will take place privately at the convenience of the family.

Burial will be in Wallkill Valley Cemetery in Walden, NY.
