Hans Van Dyke Obituary

Hans Van Dyke of Montgomery, NY, passed away Monday, May 26, 2025, in Montgomery. He was 78.

The son of the late Charles and Grace (VanderGoot) Van Dyke, he was born July 25, 1946 in Oudemirdum, Friesland, Netherlands.                          

Hans was a longtime truck driver for various trucking companies, including McBride, Spindler, Yellow Freight and LJ Kennedy. Along with trucking, he enjoyed farming, trains and farm tractors, and going out to eat at his favorite diners. He also served in the United States Army from 1965-1967.

He is survived by his brother Luke Van Dyke & Rena, and Luke’s children Carolyn and Christine, sister Tina McKinney and her children Kim and David, sister Betty Campbell and her children Jake and Doug and his wife Hannah, along with many other nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Barney Van Dyke and sister-in-law Aline Van Dyke.

Visitation will take place Saturday, May 31, 2025, 10am-12pm at Overhiser Funeral Home, 78 Union St., Montgomery, NY 12549.

A funeral service will follow at 12pm at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Toys for Tots  or the Walden Humane Society, 2489 Albany Post Road, Montgomery, NY 12549.
