Hugh D. Crowell

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Hugh D. Crowell, 78 of Wallkill, NY.    He died unexpectedly on October 4, 2023.   

Hugh is the son of the late Addison and Eleanor Crowell and resided in Wallkill, NY his entire life.   He attended Wallkill Central School District and obtained an Associates Degree from SUNY Albany.   Hugh was also a veteran in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Korea for a year.  Hugh worked in food distribution sales with various companies where he practiced one his greatest abilities which is to connect and socialize with his various customers who would all become friends of his.  Lastly, Hugh partnered up with two of his friends (Fred and Eric) to form his own ATM business which he managed up until the time of his passing.

Hugh met the love of his life, Karen (VanAken) Crowell and were married for 51 years. Together, they share two children: Shawn (Leah) Crowell of Warrington, PA and their children: Kayleigh, Mackenzie and Connor.   Their other son, Mark (Sharon) Crowell of Mountain Top, PA and their children: Matthew, Michael and Caitrin.   Other family members include, his late brother Stewart Crowell and his wife Carolyn, their children, Brian (Wendy) Crowell of Bedford Hills, NY and Lynne (Jeff) Deiner of Wallkill, NY.  

Hugh was a great lover of the outdoors and loved to spend time in nature roaming the trails of his property in his golf cart.   Hugh was also passionate about his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Memorial visitation will take place Tuesday October 17th, 2023, 10:00am-12:00pm at Wallkill Reformed Church 45 Bridge Street, Wallkill, NY 12589.

A memorial service will follow at 12:00pm.
