James Oliver Knapp of Wallkill, NY, passed away Wednesday, September 14, 2022 in Fishkill, NY. He was 89.
The son of the late William & Harriet Griffin Knapp, he was born November 5, 1932 in Newburgh, NY.
Jim attended NFA High School and met his wife “Glendy”, from Wallkill High School, roller skating when they were teenagers. They married in 1954 and had three daughters. They were married for 67 years. He was a member of the Army National Guard at Fort Drum, NY. He worked at Stroock’s in Newburgh and also retired from the Ford Motor Company in Mahwah, NJ. He was also a plumber assistant for his Brother-in-Law Ed Ettell. Anyone who knew him knows what a kind, funny and gentle man he was. He would do anything for anyone and would give you his last dollar if you asked. We are a tight knit family and we will continue to grow and prosper because of the values he instilled in us by example. He will be missed very much.
Survivors include his daughter Nancy Ann Noble of Wallkill, NY, daughter Donna Berryann and her husband Tom of North Carolina, daughter Kristine Servidio and her husband Jason of Tennessee, brother Ralph Knapp and his wife Shirley of Newburgh, NY, sister Shirley Yearance of Pleasant Valley, NY; 6 Grandchildren: Melissa, David, Andrew, Lindsay, Lacey and Nickole and 10 Great Grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Danny, Lucas, Tristyn, Jacob, Ava, Everly, Gabby, Rosie, and Sophia. He also leaves behind four Sister’s-in-Law and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Glendolyn Knapp, his mother and Father, Brothers and Sisters, Brothers-in-law and Sisters-in law… now they are all together again in Heaven playing cards!
Visitation will be September 29, 2022, 5-7 PM at Millspaugh Funeral Home, 22 Bank St. Walden, NY.
