Jean Matthews

Jean Matthews of Maybrook, NY, passed away Sunday, October 16, 2022. She was 78.

She was the daughter of the late Harry and Edna Palen and was born January 2, 1944 in Walden, NY. She graduated from Valley Central High School and SUNY Delhi. She was a past member of the Walden Reform Church, the Wanaksink Lake Club, and the Red Hats Club. She worked for many years at Clifford Pierce, Bradlees Department Store, and Walden Podiatry Group. Jean will be remembered for her fierce love of her family, her determination, and her love of sports.

Survivors include her three children, Kimberly Hoffman of Ancram, NY, Jon Matthews(Julie) of Monroe, NC, and Lauren Almaguer(Felix) of Mount Pleasant, SC. She adored all of her 8 grandchildren, Brittney Zeyher, Kristin Hoffman, Kristopher Hoffman, Mia Matthews, Alyssa Almaguer, Marissa Matthews, Emily Almaguer, and James “Jay” Almaguer. She had 5 great grandchildren. She has two nieces, Diane Crist Chaissan and Carla Crist Nedved and several great nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, Harry and Edna, and sister, Marylou Crist.

Visitation will take place Friday, October 21st, 2022, from 11:30-1:30PM at Millspaugh Funeral Home, 22 Bank St. Walden NY, 12586.

Burial will take place following the visitation at Wallkill Valley Cemetery, Walden NY.
