Jeanne (Wallace) Mueller

Jeanne Mueller, née Jeanne Martin Wallace, was born in the Albany, NY area to James M. Wallace and Catherine Schoen Wallace, who both predeceased her, along with her brother John Kirkpatrick Wallace of Clifton Park, NY.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Gene Mueller, and sons, Kevin and John and his wife Jessica. In addition, she is survived by siblings: Judith Wallace, (Al Masse), Margaret Wallace, David Wallace, and Marian Wallace (V. Vale). She is also survived by her sister-in-law Janet Young, and brothers-in-law Edward Mueller (Doris), Richard Mueller (Susan), Peter Mueller (Christina), Stephen Mueller (MaryJo), Thomas Mueller (Janet), and Jay Mueller (Ruth). She is also survived by her many nieces, nephews, grand nephews and grand nieces.

After earning a BA from SUNY Cortland, then her MSW from SUNY Albany, Jeanne began a long and varied career in social work. She was a discharge planner at Duchess Day Treatment and then at St Luke’s Hospital, was a day treatment program coordinator at Family Services of Newburgh and spent twenty years as a social worker at Benjamin Cosar Elementary School. She also ran her own family counseling practice. Jeanne served as the chair of the Ethics Board for the Village of Montgomery.

Jeanne was an avid photographer, and enjoyed hiking, and spending time with her many friends. Groups she belonged to included: the Laurels, the book club (which specialized in taking turns hosting one another with meals), the “Shakerettes” (long- time friends from high school), and Dorks with Sticks (a hiking group). She also was an active participant for many years in the Hudson Highlands Photography Workshop of Orange County, where members critiqued each-others’ works and held exhibitions. Much of her work is comprised of rural landscapes, glimpses of small towns, and animals and plants, photographed locally as well as around the USA, Italy, and Scotland. Another hobby of Jeanne’s was tracing her family genealogy.

Services will be held Tuesday July 14, 4:00-7:00pm at Millspaugh Funeral Home, 22 Bank Street in Walden, NY. The first 2 hours will be devoted to visitation, followed by a short service including sharing from friends and family.
