Jerry Babcock

September 2, 1933 ~ January 6, 2022 (age 88)

Jerry Babcock, known as Jake to his loved ones, of Astoria and Walden, NY, passed away Thursday, January 6, 2022, in Astoria, Queens at the age of 88.

The son of the late Isaac and Anna Rowe Babcock, he was born September 2, 1933 in Walden, NY, a town he loved and would return to frequently with his family. He was a Korean War veteran and enjoyed a lifelong love of cars as a diesel mechanic.

A true handyman, Jerry could fix anything and was a marvel of craftsmanship, especially as the foreman of any projects around the house. Along with his passion for and intricate knowledge of cars and the industrial arts, he enjoyed war and Western films, Johnny Cash, jelly donuts, and Hallmark movies. But his greatest love was always his family.

He is survived by his wife Anne, children Gerald and Irene, grandchildren Gregory and Johnathan, great-granddaughter Jaylin, and countless friends and loved ones who will always cherish his wisdom, effortless ability to make us laugh, and selflessness.
