John M. Collazo

 John M. Collazo of Newburgh, NY, passed away on Wednesday February 18, 2026 at the age of 78. He was born on December 31, 1947 to Juan Collazo and Enriqueta Collazo Otero in the Bronx, New York. 

After graduating from City College (City University of New York), he became a teacher in the New York City School System. He married Rosa Collazo (Lopez) in 1979, and together they shared 47 marvelous years and grew a beautiful family.

John Collazo enjoyed playing keyboard, chess, and learning about electronics and new technology. He was known for enjoying long conversations (that could sometimes turn into healthy debates), being a prankster with a dark sense of humor, and educating the people he loved any time he had the chance. Education was a big part of his life and it was very ingrained in his personality.

John is survived by his wife Rosa Collazo (Lopez), his daughters Rosa Josefina Collazo (married to Marc Ferguson), and Veronica Collazo (engaged to Franklin Walker), his beloved son Adam Manuel Collazo, and his treasured granddaughter Ava Pegg.

Visitation will be held at Millspaugh Funeral Directors 22 Bank Street Walden, NY 12586 on Saturday February 28, 2026 from 12-2pm and 4-6pm, followed by a funeral service at 6:30pm.
