John Reynolds Sr. Obituary

John Raymond Reynolds Sr., a lifelong resident of the Hudson Valley, passed away on July 4, 2026, following a brief illness. He was 83 years old.

John was born in Newburgh, NY on October 23, 1942. He spent his entire life in the region, including the last 25 years as a resident of Walden, NY. He built a sterling 33-year career as a highly respected Union Ironworker, connecting steel on bridges, powerhouses, and major infrastructure projects across the region. John deeply relished the monumental structural accomplishments of his work, but he valued the lifelong brotherhood and friendships he built within the industry just as much.

He was adored by all who came to know him, earning a reputation as the most hardworking, thoughtful, kind, caring, and generous man and friend anyone could ever ask for. As a husband, his dedication and loyalty to his wives was unparalleled and equally as generous. To his children and grandchildren, John was the compassionate great protector—the father and "Poppy" that his family was immensely proud to introduce and show off. He was the anchor who would never let you down, always showing up regardless of the circumstance.

Following the passing of his first love and wife, Marianne, John was blessed to find love again with his second wife, Adrian. Together, they enjoyed a long, vibrant retirement traveling the world until her passing. Late in his life, while battling chronic illnesses, John refused to let his health dim his spirit. He continued to enjoy life, treasure his family, and seek out grand experiences wherever he could find them. He truly exemplified what it means to live life to its absolute fullest and to take advantage of all God has to offer while we are here.

John was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Leroy and Bruce, his first wife, Marianne, and his second wife, Adrian.

He is survived by his two sisters, Janice and Marlene. He is also survived by his children, Laura, John Jr. and his wife Diana, Lisa, and Bryan and his wife Leigh. He leaves behind his five biological grandchildren, Zachary, and Olivia & Danielle, John, & Gage.  Additionally, he is survived by his three stepchildren, Amber, Dominica, and Jason, as well as three step-grandchildren.

A private Christian service and viewing were held on July 10, 2026.

While his passing brings terrible sorrow to those who loved him, John’s explicit wish was for those who loved him to look past the sadness and instead celebrate his life and the wonderful time he shared with us all.

Therefore, a Celebration of Life gathering will commence on August 9, 2026, at the Plattekill Rod and Gun Club, 31 Old Firehouse Road, Plattekill, NY, from 12:00 PM until 6:00 PM.
