Joseph Christodoulou, of Walden, NY, passed away Thursday, August 31, 2023 at home. He was 79.
The son of the late Apostolos and Antiopi Christodoulou, he was born March 27, 1944 in Piraeus, Greece.
Joseph worked as a hospital engineer at Central Suffolk Hospital, and later St. Luke’s Hospital. Following his position as a hospital engineer, he worked as an insurance agent for MetLife. Joe also owned and operated the Cavu Restaurant in Wallkill, and was a manager at various other local restaurants. He served in the United States Army from 1969-1970.
Joe loved to cook and entertain. His happiest times were with family and friends. He enjoyed traveling with his wife Pat, and especially enjoyed trips to the beach. He was a die-hard Jets and Yankee fan, and had season tickets for many years. He also enjoyed playing golf, and coaching soccer for the rotary club.
He was a good friend to all who knew him. He will be missed, but is at peace.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years Pat at home, son Joseph Christodoulou & wife Kitty and their children Griffin & Katie of Wesley Chapel, FL, son Paul Christodoulou & wife Jean and their son Colin of Merrick, NY, stepson Paul Haizlip & wife Caroline & their son Nolan of Lake Grove, NY, sister Helen Souris of Voula, Greece, friend and first wife Sally Christodoulou of Hillsborough, NC, sisters-in-law Pamela Gatz & her husband Richard and Penny Riva, many nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents he was predeceased by his sister Mary.
Visitation will take place Saturday, September 2, 10am-12pm at Millspaugh Funeral Home, 22 Bank St., Walden, NY 12586.
A service will follow at the funeral home at 12pm.
Burial will be at Wallkill Valley Cemetery, Walden.
