Joseph Walter O'Connell

Joseph Walter O'Connell of Montgomery, NY, passed away Saturday, January 21, 2023, in Montgomery.

The son of the late Walter and Evelyn O’Neil O’Connell, he was born August 9, 1941 in Astoria, Queens.

He worked as a peace officer for the City of New York at Camp Laguardia, Chester, NY and served in the United States Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years Diane, son Steven O’Connell, daughter Diane Ryan, daughter Dina & Scott Norman; eight grandchildren Loren(Brendan)Kelly, Christian O’Connell(Victoria), Keela & Aodhan Ryan, Mackenzie, Hunter, Scott & Samantha Norman.

Visitation will be Friday, January 27, 2023, 11am-2:30pm at Overhiser Funeral Home, 78 Union St., Montgomery, NY 12549.

A service will follow at 2:30pm the funeral home.

Cremation will take place privately.
