Joseph Sabo, of Wallkill, entered into rest on Monday, March 30, 2026. He was predeceased by his wife, Donna Sabo.
Born in Sagamore PA in 1942, he was the son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Priestas) Sabo.
Prior to his retirement, Joseph was employed by the NY State Department of Corrections. He worked as a vocational supervisor at multiple facilities across the state over a 30-year career, including Wallkill, Attica and Dannemora. He was a graduate of Mansfield University, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Education. He was a parishioner of St. Charles Church. His fondest memories include summers spent with his grandchildren in Lake George.
He and his wife were lifelong members of the Newburgh Yacht Club, where he served as Commodore for two terms. They spent many seasons boating on the Hudson River with their closest friends.
Survivors include his brother Raymond Sabo (Pat), sister Jane Denofa (Thomas); two sons, Stephen (Janet) Sabo of Wallingford, CT, and Matthew (Amber) Sabo, of Smiths Creek, MI; four grandchildren, Alex, Emily, Colin and Addison; and four nephews.
Services will be from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Sunday, May 17th, 2026 at Wallkill Funeral Home, 12 Bonaventura Avenue, Wallkill, NY 12589.
