Lionel Drice Obituary

Born on May 25, 1954, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Lionel Drice of Middletown, NY, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at the age of 70.

Lionel was the cherished son of the late Ludovic Drice and Lucienne Perrin. From his early days in Haiti to his life in Middletown, Lionel’s journey was marked by unwavering dedication to family, hard work, and a spirit of generosity.

For 25 beautiful years, Lionel shared his life with his late beloved wife, Jocelyne Jean Drice. Together, they built a home filled with love, warmth, and kindness, nurturing a legacy of compassion and strength.

Lionel was a man of exceptional talent, blessed with hands that could fix anything. As a natural-born mechanic, his remarkable gift for repairs earned him the affectionate nickname “Engineer” among those who marveled at his skills. His career began at a very young age when, with boundless curiosity and talent, he pulled apart his first car and put it back together—perfectly. From that day forward, there was nothing Lionel couldn’t fix.

His talents extended far beyond automotive repairs. Lionel was also highly skilled in home improvement, including restoration, plumbing, and electrical work. Whether it was fixing a car, transforming a home, or bringing light and warmth through his handiwork, Lionel approached every task with patience, ingenuity, and an open heart. His ability to turn challenges into opportunities for creation and restoration was a true gift to all who knew him.

He is survived by his devoted children: Daphnee, Cassandra, Lionel Jr., Leandra, and Joyce, each of whom carries forward his values of love and resilience. Lionel also leaves behind his dear sister, Mireille, and his treasured nieces and nephews: Magalie and her husband, Reverend Jean Nixon Rebecca; Alix, Serge, Danielle, and Wilner Jr.

His extended family includes his great-nieces, Daniella and Anne; his great-nephews, Ricardo, Angel, Araian, Glovaïco, and Glovensky; his cousins, Martha, Gerard, Gladys, Gerald, and Elcie; and many others whose lives he touched with his kindness and generosity.

Lionel shared a special bond with his lifelong friend, Guy Lanoix, and treasured the friendship he had with Guy’s late wife, Marie. Their enduring friendship was a source of strength and joy, reflecting the depth of love and loyalty that defined Lionel’s relationships.

Affectionately known as “Mimi,” Lionel will be profoundly missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of love, wisdom, and laughter will remain in the hearts of those he leaves behind.

Though he is no longer with us, Lionel’s light will continue to shine through the lives he touched. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
