Margaret Keenan Obituary

Margaret Carpentieri Keenan of the Town of Newburgh, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, December 24, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.

The daughter of the late Joseph Carpentieri and Julia (Benedetto) Carpentieri, she was born on October 1, 1940, in Brooklyn, New York.

She is survived by son Joseph Keenan, son Glenn Keenan (Enza), daughter Alison Miller (Duane), son Michael Keenan, son John Keenan (Sharon); grandchildren Joseph II, Jennifer, Catherine, Jessica, Michael Jr. (Ashley), Nicholas, Erik, Samantha (Joseph), Alessandra, and Lara; great-grandchildren Jonathon, Anthony, Logan, Emma, Sophia, Brady, Hunter, Gabriel, Cash, Joshua, Makenna, Jayden, Aubriella, Landon, and Addison; sister Angela Sonner, brother Dominick Carpentieri (Wendy), brother John Carpentieri (Karen); and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Along with her parents, Margaret was predeceased by her son David Jr., grand-daughter Alison, brother Ralph Carpentieri, sister Angelina Carpentieri, brother Anthony Carpentieri, and sister Juliet Ackerman.

Margaret was a graduate of Northern Valley Regional High School in Demarest, New Jersey.  In addition to raising her family, Margaret was gainfully employed and last worked for the Grand Union Corporation.

Margaret was actively involved in the community.  She was a Past Captain of the Coldenham Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and a life member, and past Treasurer of the Montgomery Seniors.  Margaret was also a member of the Most Precious Blood Parish in Walden, New York.

Margaret was a loving mother yet had a stern discipline.  She was a 60-year resident of Fleetwood Manor in the Town of Newburgh and had many close friends.  Over the years she enjoyed watching her and her friends’ children grow up together.  She affectionately had her great-grandchildren call her “Maggie.” She had a passion for lottery scratch-offs, bingo, trips to casinos with her Seniors Group and was an avid “Days of our Lives” follower.  She was a great cook of all foods, and her Italian meatballs were second to none.  Margaret will be loved forever in our hearts and greatly missed.

Services will take place privately.
