Maria (Mary) Grazia Marotta of Montgomery, NY, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday February 9, 2025 at 92 years old.
The daughter of the late Pancrazio and Francesca (Valentino) DiLorenzo, she was born January 22, 1933 in Naples, Italy.
Mary immigrated from Italy in 1958 alongside her husband and worked as a seamstress and homemaker. She was beautiful, brilliant, and funny. She worked tirelessly to support and nurture her family and put her three children through college. She loved to tend to her garden and cook for her family and friends. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved nothing more than having her home filled with the people she loved. It was a gift to know her and to be loved by her. She is an irreplaceable presence in our lives that will be forever missed and her memory will be cherished in our hearts.
She is survived by her husband of 69 years Angelo Marotta, her sons, Daniel Marotta and his wife Cheryl, Anthony Marotta and his wife Lisa, and Angelo Marotta, her grandchildren, Alessandra and husband Christopher, Michael, Nicolette, Amelia, Anna, Andrew, Kori, Jordan, Angela, Billy, Nicholas, and Anthony, and great-grandchildren Zoe, Mason, Benny, Kaiden, Kyah, Roman, and Nico.
She is also survived by her brother Giuseppe DiLorenzo and his wife Rena, and her sister-in-law Michelina DiLorenzo as well as several nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents she was predeceased by her brothers Felice DiLorenzo and Thomas DiLorenzo, and her niece Francine DiLorenzo Whitehouse.
Visitation will take place Sunday, February 16, 2025, 3pm-5pm at Millspaugh Funeral Home, 22 Bank St., Walden, NY 12586.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, February 17, 2025, at 10:30 am at Holy Name of Mary Church, Montgomery, NY 12549.
Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Montgomery, NY.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
