Marjorie Tillotson Obituary

Marjorie Ann Tillotson, loving mother and Grammy, and a longtime resident of the area, passed away Wednesday, October 2, 2024 in Montgomery, NY. She was 91 years old. Marjorie was the daughter of the late Alexander and Ann Weiman Morgan. She was born in Brooklyn and grew up in St. Albans, Queens.

Marjorie attended Ladycliff College while raising four children and working full time. She graduated Magna Cum Laude and was named to “Who’s Who in American Universities & Colleges,” a high honor. Marjorie retired from Valley View Nursing Home in Goshen, where she worked as Director of Admissions and Human Services.

Marjorie shared an inspirational marriage with the love of her life, Edwin, for over 69 years. The pair were avid world travelers and enjoyed annual trips to Cape Cod. They frequented concerts and hockey games at West Point and were always delighted to be in the company of their family and friends.

Marjorie was the treasured matriarch of her family, a constant source of motherly advice and love. She was a wealth of knowledge, only a phone call or text away from her children and grandchildren, who she loved dearly.

Sewing was a longtime hobby of Marjorie’s, her talent dating back to altering dresses as a preteen and continuing through sewing clothing for her children and grandchildren. Marjorie loved to pass time with a good book or a walk outdoors and always prioritized a healthy lifestyle. No matter the occasion, Marjorie took pride in her style and loved to go shopping to maintain her fashionable wardrobe. She was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Montgomery, where she served as a Deacon.

Survivors include her four children: Suzanne (Phil) Sliwa, Wayne (Denise) Tillotson, Janine (Walter) Hyde, and Kristi (Scott) Kramer, eight grandchildren: Walter, Juliann (Sean), Lauren (Kevin), Erin (Rich), Victoria (Aaron), Kyle, Courtney, and Rebecca, three great grandchildren: Keira, Emma, and London, sister-in-law Carlys Stroupe, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Marjorie is predeceased by her parents, brother, Donald John Morgan, beloved husband, Edwin George Tillotson, and great grandson, Brennan William McAloon.

Cremation will take place privately. A memorial service will be held Friday, October 18, 2024 at 11 am at the First Presbyterian Church, 137 Clinton St, Montgomery, NY with Pastor Dorinda Violante officiating.
