Matthew Dane Kryger

Matthew Dane Kryger of Walden, NY, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, June 24, 2026, in Montgomery. He was 42.

The son of Michael D. Kryger and Sandra Brown Wiltshire, he was born March 16, 1984, in Kingston, NY.

Matthew attended Valley Central High School in Montgomery, New York and The Gunnery in Washington, Connecticut. At age of 8, he achieved his black belt in Tang Soo Do karate. He was an avid hockey player, and in the past, played for the Valley Central Ice Hockey Team, The Gunnery Hockey Team and for the league at Ice Time Sports Complex in Newburgh, NY. He had a love of horses and for all animals. Matt was always on the go and could make friends wherever he went. He also enjoyed riding dirt bikes, quads, fishing and Legos. He adored his niece and nephews and was excited to share his love of Legos with them.

Because of his passion for animals, he was most recently employed at the Saddle Brook Farm Animal Rescue, Walden, NY. The family would like to send their most sincere thank you to Helen and everyone at Saddle Brook Rescue, and the countless friends that have helped Matthew over the years.

Matthew is survived by his mother Sandy (Jack) Wiltshire, father Michael (Cynthia) Kryger, sister Kristen Kryger Sorice, niece Angelina Sorice, nephews Andre and Luca Sorice, many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was predeceased by his grandparents and his Godfather Keith Johnston.

Cremation will take place privately.

A Celebration of Life will take place Saturday August 22, 2026, at 2pm at the First Reformed Church of Walden, 70 Scofield Street, Walden, NY 12586.
