Michael Joseph Rodia, Sr., a devoted husband, father and grandfather, and overall great guy passed away surrounded by his loved ones on September 2nd, 2023. He was 68 years old.
The son of Gennaro and Anna Rodia, Michael was born in Madrid, Spain and traveled the world with his military family as a child before settling in Brooklyn, New York and later Montgomery, New York.
Michael served in the United States Army. He was employed at Verizon for over 30 years. An old school hard worker, he was incapable of sitting still in retirement and went on to work as a school bus driver for the Valley Central School district for almost 10 years.
Michael’s sarcasm, quick wit, sensibility and good advice will be truly missed by his friends and family. He was the kind of man that never complained and would do anything to support his loved ones when they needed him. No drive was too long and no task was unmanageable. He was somehow always in the area or already happened to be completing whatever errand you needed - nothing was a bother for him.
In his free time he loved to take road trips with his wife, spend time with his family, tinker on projects, wander around Walmart, fish with his kids and grandkids, and nap wherever a comfy chair and TV were available.
He will always be loved and remembered by his family and friends.
Visitation will take place Wednesday September 6th, 2023, from 2:00PM - 4:00PM and 6:00PM -7:30PM at Overhiser Funeral Homes, 78 Union St. Montgomery, NY.
A service will follow visitation hours, Wednesday September 6th, 2023 at 7:30PM at the funeral home.
