Mildred M DeWitt

A limb has fallen from our tree that says grieve not for me. Remember the best times, the laughter, the song, the good life I lived while I was strong.

Mildred C. DeWitt passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on April 19, 2022 after a short illness. She was 79.

Mildred was born December 16, 1942 in NYC to Michael and Marie (Hart) Corrigan. Marie died shortly after childbirth and Mildred was loved and cared for by “Mom” and “Dad”, George and Mary Goerl. The family moved to Pine Bush where she met and married her partner for life, Adrian “Sandy” DeWitt, Jr. They were blessed with 3 children; Doraine, Corinne and Adrian “Binker” III.

Mildred was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She played an active role in their lives and volunteered at school, 4H and CYO. She had a vivacious personality and always made people around her laugh. Not one to sit still, once her children were grown, she became a licensed real estate agent working for Caldwell Banker and RJ Smith Realty. She also worked as a cosmetics representative for Clinique and Lancome. Mildred was an avid animal lover. On her visits to Pine Bush as a child she spent hours at the Munro Farm, which she and Sandy  later purchased and turned into San-Mil Acres, their dream. She would spend hours tending her horses, dogs and flower gardens.

Mildred was “Mima” to 6 grandchildren (Amanda, Devin, Seth, Trevor, Karlee and Tiernan) as well as 2 great-grandchildren (Jasper and Vivian).

Mildred is survived by her daughter (Doraine) and her son and daughter-in-law (Binker and Missy), her grand and great-grand children, as well as her eldest brother, Michael. Mildred was predeceased by her parents, her husband(Sandy), her daughter (Corinne), her siblings (Thomas, John, and Mary).

Please join us in celebrating this cherished life on Monday, May 9, 2022, from 6-8pm at Millspaugh Funeral Home, 22 Bank St., Walden, NY 12586.

Burial will be private.
